This is the famous Pegasus Bridge Cafe. Owned by the Gondree family where during the Allied invasion Theres and Georges look after the wounded Allied troops. Some of which were brought in and laid on the table to be assessed before being transferred for treatment to the next room which had been converted into an operating theatre.
This was the first house to be liberated during 23:00 hrs on the 5th of JUNE 1944 by men from the Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry in the British 6th Airborne Division under the command of Major H JOHN HOWARD.
